Kindergarten News February 1, 2016
We are happy to have Mrs. Seaser back! Thank you to Mrs. Laskowski for helping in our class! I will be absent today. I will be back Tuesday.
Tomorrow is Groundhog Day!
This week in Math, we will use dimes to practice counting by 10. We will match a number to a set, compare sets of objects, weigh objects using non-standard units, and combine sets by adding on.
Counting with one-to-one correspondence: One-to-One correspondence is a foundational math skill. Use one-to-one correspondence to solve problems by matching sets and comparing number amounts and in counting objects to 10 and beyond and to recognize the number of objects in small groups without counting and by counting.
This week in Spelling and Phonics, we will add the letter Bb and Uu. We will count words we hear in sentences, name words that have the /k/ sound, practice compound words, identify initial, medial, and final sounds in words, and identify if words are the same or different. We will begin our next decodable reader- it is called “The Big Trip”.
Our Bible lesson is about Jesus blessing the children. Our Bible verse is:
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me.” March 10:14
We will discuss the weather and how it affects us.
I am sending home a book order form, please turn these in next Monday, or you may order online. Our online order code is: GVTVQ
If your child and you are ready, let them walk down to the classroom on their own. This is a great way to build independence and responsibility.
Next week we will celebrate our 100th day of school and Valentine’s Day!
In His Service,
Mrs. Chaiser & Mrs. Seaser
