Kindergarten News September 9, 2013
What we will do this week:
This will be our first full week of kindergarten. We are doing a good job learning our new routines. Thank you for the information sheets and volunteer forms that have been turned in. I love reading what you write about your child. I appreciate all the parents who have volunteered. I will keep volunteering in the classroom to a minimum for the next couple weeks. This way we have had time to learn procedures. Several parents signed up as recess helpers! Thank you! A schedule for recess volunteers went home last week.
Please make sure you are removing things out of your child’s backpack and green folder daily. You will receive this news in your child’s green folder each week. You may also find my weekly news and other information on my blog. http://mrschaiserskindergartenblog.blogspot.com/
We will continue talking about creation and begin naming living and non-living things. We will talk about what living things need to survive and we will begin growing grass!
In Math we will make a pictograph of our class we will use the words more and less to describe our graph. We will practice reading a graph. We will count to 5 with one-to-one correspondence. We will explore using teddy bears and pattern blocks.
In Spelling and phonics we will continue working with the letter Ll. We use the word lion to help us remember the /l/ sound. We will name letters, and we will learn what vowels and consonants are. We will practice writing the letter Ll. We learn the song “top to bottom, left to right” to help us learn that we always start at the top! Our next letter is Oo.
We have gym class on Monday’s and Thursdays, and Fridays. Please make sure your child has gym shoes!
You may turn in all school paperwork and snack/party funds ($20 total) to me or to the office.
